Prof So's practice predominantly involves representing corporations and state entities from China, the Russian Federation and CIS Countries, and more recently, those from MENA. He has been frequently acting in arbitrations at the forefront of geopolitical events, including various cases arising from the wars in Ukraine, Afghanistan, and South Sudan. He is also well known for his expertise on disputes concerning costs and funding.
Prior to joining the Bar, Prof So has been a legal academic around the globe since 2010, and had taught and researched at Oxford, New Delhi, Luxembourg, Moscow, Kazan, Beijing, and Hong Kong. He remains to be a foreign legal expert of the Ministry of Science & Technology of the Chinese government, and a Distinguished Professor and Graduate Supervisor for civil procedure and international arbitration at the China University of Political Science & Law in Beijing, and a co-editor of a leading English textbook, Friston on Costs.
